Introduction

After World War II, American families started to settle down into their own tight knit family structures. Levittown was their answer. Built by William Levitt shortly after World War II, Levittown was the answer to many American's dreams of owning a home. The small town surburbia was built to allow for affordable housing for GI's and their families who were looking to settle down and start their families. The homes were built with new materials, each home having its own lawn for up keeping, and even its own driveway. William Levitt built this community, Levittown, and "presented it as a new form of ideal American life"[1].
